SCL Health is non-profit healthcare organization with a $2.6 billion health network in Colorado and Montana. The healthcare system provides comprehensive, coordinated care in eight hospitals and with more than 100 physician clinics, and home health, hospice, mental health and safety-net services.
The SCL Health communications and marketing team contacted me to provide content for a new communications initiative in the form of a quarterly magazine, titled “GoodHealth.” Hard copies of the magazine are distributed by mail to the healthcare system’s contacts consisting of patients, caregivers, stakeholders, employees and community members. Digitally, the articles are posted to the SCL Health blog for use in social media and email campaigns.
The primary goal of the magazine is to provide useful and inspiring content. Secondarily, the magazine highlights the services and providers in the SCL Health system.
I had the pleasure of interviewing doctors, nurses and patients to complete the following articles in the magazine:
- The Low-Down on Genetic Counseling
- Joe’s Journey: Trek to Everest after Overcoming Cancer
- Do You Know Your Density?
Based on those interviews, I wrote content that explained the medical jargon being discussed for the use of readers. These articles provide information and personal experiences to help readers start or expand the conversations they may already be having with their healthcare providers.
